About Us

History and Philosophy

Serendipity Pre-Kindergarten is a proudly parent-run, non-profit preschool dedicated to both our students and our community. We have been in the business for over 50 years.

Our program is based on ‘learning through play’ concept. Children learn through a process of sensory experiences: they hear, feel, see, smell and taste. Our creative play philosophy is based on the premise that the more our emotions are involved, the more sensory information we receive, the more easily learning takes place. That is why play is important and why we want to promote the principle of learning by doing, learning through play, and the right of a child to enjoy childhood.

Our facility is fully licensed through Alberta Government and follows their regulations and standards.

Board of Directors

As a non-profit society we are managed completely by a volunteer Board of Directors voted in each year by the members.  Each board member must have a child attending Serendipity for that year.

Serendipity is looking for volunteers to fill the following roles for the 2023/2024 school year.

  • Vice president

  • Volunteer

If you would like to volunteer for any of the above or have any questions regarding board member roles, please e-mail serendipityokotoks@gmail.com

Volunteering for the Board of Directors

Attending your child's Special Day-

  • Parent/adult volunteers are welcome to join their child on their special day and must have a criminal record check on file.  It is not mandatory for you to attend but can be fun and exciting for you and your child.

Early Intervention Partnerships

Serendipity Pre-Kindergarten is an inclusive preschool program. We believe that every child has the right to attend preschool.

We partner with two amazing agencies, Kids Developmental Services (KDS) and Maximize Early Childhood Services, both provide support to children in our program. Every child can participate in their assessments and find out if they require any additional supports. Families need to give consent prior to assessments. This is a free service offered by Alberta Education.
